Lemon Poppyseed Muffin

Category One Star, Breakfast

Lemon Poppyseed Muffin They say: An instant classic, this lemon poppy muffin has a taste second to none.

I say: Uh...I seriously beg to differ. This was hard to swallow. Literally. Quite dry. The lemony flavor left such a weird after taste that I couldn't wait to wash it down with water. I think it's the first meal I have inducted into the "No way will I reorder!" category.

We talked about this one yesterday. I've had them once, and I didn't care for them at all (dry with a really grainy aftertaste). However, I ate them plain, and several of you mentioned that they need to be toasted with butter spray or ff cream cheese. I hold out hope that my next muffin experience will be better.

Toasted, with FF cream cheese. YUM!!

01.13.05 | Beth commented:

They are just ok. If you nuke them for about 15 seconds in a moist paper towel it helps with the dryness. However, these are still my least favorite of the muffins.

Yes I would use the term "2nd to None". There is no other taste quite like that. Ha

I've tasted better, I've also tasted worse.

"Taste second to none." I have to agree. There are very few things I CAN'T eat, but this is one of them. Had to throw it away. Dry and a chemical taste to it. Didn't try nuking it, though, so maybe there is hope...

I love lemon poppyseed muffins, but not this one! Did not order it after my initial shipment.

I am not a fan of lemon poppyseed anything, and I have one of these, but have never tried it. Too afraid....

I ate mine toasted but didn't use ICBINB...but it didn't taste too bad. The poppy seeds add an interesting texture to it.

Love 'em, love 'em, love 'em, love 'em!!!! ditto, ditto, ditto - for me it's like eating only the top of a muffin and I get TWO of them.

01.13.05 | Lily commented:

I break each into 4 pieces, put in a bowl, and pour a little of my morning NF latte on 'em and eat like cereal!

Or if I'm at work, I dunk them in the latte.

I didnt like these as much as the other muffins.

01.13.05 | Sara commented:

I like them warm, too.

Good when microwaved for @ 20 seconds.

Worst of the muffins; has a medicinal taste...I got it, tastes like Lemon Pledge!! Really! (Not that I've tasted Lemon Pledge)

09.27.05 | snoopbeckybeck commented:

Worst of the worst! Just like the blueberry, they smelled like pickles - I could only take one bite and I really regretted doing that.

Get the Banana Spice muffins instead - they're way better.

Really horrible! I can even eat those lemon poppyseed muffins from vending machines that have enough artificial ingredients to last forever. I couldn't gag these down.

Regarding those lemon poppseed muffins, I ordered them in my first order too. BIG MISTAKE!! They were so bad, I didn't have the heart to feed them to the birds! Put them right in the trash!

01.18.06 | Robin commented:

I wouldn't give this any stars, I had to throw it out. YUCK!

01.19.06 | Lauren commented:

I can almost eat anything, but not these! I had read the bad reviews, and thought to myself "How bad can a lemon poppyseed muffin be?" I found out! The texture is very grainy and the lemon flavoring is very bland, although chemical flavored. I'll have to agree with the reviewer who compared the taste to lemon Pledge. ICK! I will give it two, rather than one, stars for the simple fact that although it was yucky, with squeezable fat-free Smart Start on it, I was able to choke it all down.

I break the muffins up in pieces and put then in my sliced splenda sweetened strawberries.

When I first saw these I was so very excited. My fault. I shouldn't have thought they would taste anything like my favorite muffin. I love anything lemon poppyseed, or so I thought. I have managed to make them edible, but I am still bitter that my hopes got dashed! LOL

06.27.06 | LorrieBGood commented:

Nuking def. improves but only for a few seconds. I like these because they are easy to tote to work and are filling since you get two. I eat them alongside my yogurt and fruit. Of course they will be dry--they took out all the grease! It's why we are getting so skinny! hehe

It's funny, I found this posting because I did a google search for "worst nutrisystem food" after taking a few bites of the horrid Lemon Poppyseed muffins. This was at the top of the results! I guess that means nothing is considered worse, which makes me feel good since it was my first Nutrisystem meal ever so far...

07.10.06 | Tammy commented:

These muffins were very dry and bland. Way too many poppy seeds for my taste. I will not reorder these again. Still have two packs left, and hopefully some of the tips here will help make them more edible.

07.20.06 | Mary commented:

Instead of sticking to your ribs, it sticks in your throat. Very dry with an aftertaste.

08.01.06 | Holly commented:

Tasted just ok....but VERY DRY. Maybe I'll try nuking my other muffins next time.

08.07.06 | Kristi commented:

Yep. these are pretty bad, I have one more package, I will try to toast with FF cream cheese, since that seems to be the only thing that makes these edible.

09.19.06 | Ed commented:

Barely edible with ICBINB and nuked for 20 seconds.
