Whipped Sweet Potatoes with Cheese

Whipped Sweet Potatoes with Cheese They say: A favorite that is great any time. You'll love the tasty combination in this healthy, "good carb" lunchtime entree.

I say: I was very leery about trying this. Living in the south I know sweet potatoes. And I'm sorry to say this just doesn't cut the mustard. There's no need to put cheese in sweet potatoes. It's too bland and I seriously doubt any die hard potato lover will be satisfied.

Strawberry Low Fat Yogurt

Strawberry Low Fat Yogurt They say: This yogurt for the person on the go has a rich, creamy texture and real strawberries to make it great.

I say: I'm still not big on the idea of powdered yogurt with the glut of yogurt found on just about every street corner. Plus it's not filling. But this was much MUCH better than the Blueberry Low Fat Yogurt. It could also be that I made it better. I used 2/3's water, still too soupy, and I let it sit in the fridge for 4 hours. It was quite tangy. I also liked the chunks of strawberries.

I say: Deliciously tangy, it must be the salad dressing. I just about scraped the can clean to get every drop. I'm not sure what Sesame Crackers they refer to, but it went well with the Whole Wheat Melba Toast.

Spicy Oriental Noodles with Vegetables and Peanuts They say: You'll love the flavor of the chinese noodles in this entré.

I say: YUM YUM YUM! It was full of noodles, think ramen style, and green beans. Not too spicy, more peppery so it's hot but doesn't burn when eating. Could have used more peanuts though.

Italian Pasta Marinara

Italian Pasta Marinara They say: A vegetarian combination of macaroni, zucchini and red bell peppers in a flavorful tomato sauce.

I say: Very very filling. Chunks of vegetables just like those zucchinis shown in the picture and lots of pasta. Only negative thing is that the pasta has hole at either end, like a straw, so it's not slurpable like spaghetti. The tomato sauce is very tangy and thick.

Blueberry Low Fat Yogurt

Blueberry Low Fat Yogurt They say: Just add water to enjoy this super yogurt made with real blueberries and added whey protein, great for people on the go.

I say: Bleeech! This came with the first order and I've been holding onto it for weeks. First of all why powdered yogurt? I can easily buy fresh yogurt at the supermarket. I can even get low-fat yogurt with fresh fruit from McDonalds. But I digress. After mixing it and letting sit in the fridge for 2 hours, it came out soupy. The taste? Weird. The blue chunks of dehydrated blueberries? Not good. I tried to eat it all but halfway through it turned my stomach. Next to the Lemon Poppyseed Muffin the worst food item I've eaten.

Vegetarian Pasta Salad

Vegetarian Pasta Salad They say: Red bell peppers, kidney beans, corn, black olives and Romano cheese make our vegetarian pasta salad hearty and healthy.

I say: Note to self, read the instructions on EVERYTHING. As I was getting my foods ready to pop in the microwave I skimmed the instructions to find: Serve Cold. I had no backup meals with me. What to do what to do? I was too hungry to attempt to force it cold by putting it in the freezer for an hour.

I decided to nuke it for about 1 minute. Not to make it hot, just to warm it up from room temperature. Besides it's beans, olives, corn and pasta. I've eaten those things warm before, I can do it again. So this is really a non-review. I ended up really liking it. But to be fair I'll need to re-review it cold.

Cheesy Homestyle Potatoes with Broccoli

Cheesy Homestyle Potatoes with Broccoli They say: Delectable combination of potatoes and broccoli in a rich cheddar cheese sauce.

I say: As they say it's not part of the Nourish program but someone asked me to check it out. I LOVED this. Not unlike most instant mix mashed potatoes it was easy to make. I could have done without the flakes of broccoli and used the real thing, but that's just being nitpicky. It was creamy and cheesy. *drool*

Note: This is a NutriSystem Classics meal. (These favorites fit into your meal plan's caloric recommendation and may be selected as part of your NutriSystem program; however, they are not low-glycemic items.)

It certainly absorbed the excess liquids. The noodles softened up nicely. I was expecting a creamier sauce. Next time I'll use 1/2 soy milk & 1/2 water.

I just checked and for this 7.5 oz bowl there are 520mg of sodium. A 10 oz can of Campbell's is 2290mg. That being said, this was just perfect for dinner.
